VALISE Gallery is dedicated to presenting subjects and media that are exciting and unexpected.  Our goal is to be a vital and accessible art venue for the community. We hope to stir our audiences and stimulate critical conversations and to keep our members challenged in taking risks to initiate fresh work. 

We are a collective of creative individuals who together run the gallery which is located in the downtown core of Vashon Island. VALISE members must live and/or work on Vashon Island.

Submit an application as directed below. Applications are generally voted on in the monthly meeting following receipt of  a completed application package.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Please submit:
- a cover letter or email detailing why you would like to join the VALISE collective; please describe experience and talents you feel will benefit the collective and gallery
- statement (up to one page) describing your work and creative process
- resume
- up to 10 digital images of your work with an accompanying image list, or samples of your creative work (such as a writing sample, a CD/DVD of sound, spoken work, or video, etc.) Please note: Digital image size should not exceed 1000 pixels in either dimension.

 If you are interested in applying for membership but do not have some or all of the application materials, please contact us. We are happy to work with you.

VALISE will accept applications via email or deposited in the VALISE gallery mail slot. If you would like your application materials returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Please do not use metered postage.  Applicants will be notified of the collective's decision within two months after application is submitted.
